Brampton Lions Reserve team to participate in first 2009 CSL game2009-04-21![]() The Brampton Dixie Lions will face Italia Shooters Reserve team to open the 2009 CSL season. This game has a special meaning to owner Tony DeThomas, as he is dedicating this game to the people effected from the earthquake in Italy. Dear Italian - Canadian, I am sure that you have heard of the tragedy that has occurred in L’Aquila, in the Province of Abruzzi, Italy. I was born in the small town of Abbateggio, in the Province of Abruzzi. The town of Abbateggio is approximately 100 km away from the town of L’Aquila. As owner of the Italia Shooters, a soccer team in the City of Vaughan Ontario, I would like to help raise funds for the earthquake stricken area and donate to a trust relief fund all of the proceeds of our home opener. The Italia Shooters play against the Montréal Impact Reserve team on Friday May 15, kick-off time is 8:15 pm. Also playing that night (kick-off 6:30pm) will the Woodbridge Strikers, the Italia Shooters official reserve team vs the Brampton Dixie Lions, the official reserve team of the Brampton Lions. Both teams are from a city that is highly populated by Italian- Canadians. The City of Vaughan has one of the highest populations of Italian-Canadians in Canada. We would like your support in coming out to the game and donate whatever amount you can afford. We will also provide a minute of silence to honour the deceased. Please help us spread the event - your co-operation would be most appreciated. Please email me any thoughts, comments, suggestions and support back to my personal email address tdt@dethomasfinancial.com or to our soccer email address at info@italishooters.ca Thank you and hope to see you at our event, Tony De Thomasis President Italia Shooters, of the City of Vaughan STADIUM LOCATION St Joan of Arc High School Stadium I St Joan of Arc Maple, Ontario North East for more information www.italiashooters.ca CSL Reserve Division Woodbridge Strikers vs Brampton Dixie Lions Kick-off 6:30pm The Woodbridge Strikers are official reserve team of Italia Shooters and Dixie Lions of Brampton Lions.
